Machines and markets at the farm gate.

Agricliq Trading stands between the farmer and the buyer. We gather the grain, clean it, store it and trade it, and we are building the machinery that Nigerian agriculture still lacks.

Why Agricliq

Across Africa, including Nigeria where we operate, much farming is still done by hand.

In much of Africa, including Nigeria where we operate, grain is still harvested, threshed, dried and sorted by hand. It costs farmers time. Quality slips. Buyers are left with uneven, unclean product. Agricliq is bringing machines into the value chain, so that grain is cleaned, graded and stored properly, and so that farmers, buyers and processors can deal with each other through one reliable hub.

Agricliq is part of MEA Global, an energy and commodities Group, and draws on the Group’s trading experience, trucks and banking relationships. That hands a young agribusiness a supply chain and market access that standalone operators would take years to build.

What we do today

Three activities, one hub.

01

Farming

We are completing our current soybean season. Growing our own crop gives the team first-hand experience of production and strengthens our relationships with local farmers.

02

Aggregation and processing centre

We are setting up the centre in Nigeria. Multi-grain cleaning and threshing equipment is already installed, ready for soybeans, sorghum, maize, millet, rice and sesame.

03

Commodity trading

We buy grain at the farm gate and clean and grade it. Then we either resell it quickly or store selected volumes to sell when the market is better.

How trading works

From the farm gate to the buyer.

  1. 01

    Buy at the farm gate

We build a network of farmers and buy grain right where it grows.

  2. 02

    Clean and grade

Machines lift out the dirt and husk and sort the grain by quality, so every lot meets a clear standard.

  3. 03

    Sell or store

We resell quickly to buyers and processors, or keep selected volumes in storage and wait for a better market.

  4. 04

    Deliver

The Group’s logistics experience gets the product to the buyer.

Who we work with

Farmers

A reliable buyer for your harvest, a cleaning and threshing service on site, and a route to better markets. Smallholders, commercial farmers, cooperatives and aggregators are all welcome to talk to us.

Buyers and processors

Cleaned, graded grain from a single hub, and relationships that grow season after season. We are building structured offtake arrangements with end buyers and processors.

Partners and investors

As the hub grows, we welcome partners in storage, processing, packaging and logistics. Contact us to discuss.

Why agriculture

Without food, nobody can survive.

The world population has passed 8 billion and the United Nations expects it to peak at about 10.3 billion in the 2080s. Africa is growing fastest, from about 1.5 billion people today to about 2.4 billion by 2050. The FAO estimates that food production must rise by about 60 percent by 2050 to feed everyone. Africa holds about 65 percent of the world’s remaining uncultivated arable land, according to the African Development Bank, yet it still imports much of its food. That gap is the opportunity.

Our plan

Diversify the Group, and take Agricliq across Africa.

Our plan is to diversify, so that the Group does not depend on one commodity or one market. Agriculture is a promising sector. Demand grows with every new mouth to feed, and it does not follow the Oil price. Our vision is to take Agricliq across Africa. We start with the aggregation centre in Nigeria, then build a network of farmer, storage and processing hubs in more countries, with the Group’s logistics and trading experience behind it.

  • Diversified Group

Energy and food, two sectors the world cannot do without.

  • Africa-wide

Farmer networks and hubs in more countries as the model proves itself.

  • Value up the chain

From aggregation and cleaning to storage, processing and branded products.

Roadmap

From a first centre to a network of agricultural hubs.

01

Now

Build a reliable farmer procurement network in Nigeria, secure stronger relationships with end buyers and processors, raise utilisation of the aggregation centre in Plateau State and grow the volume of grain handled each season.

02

Medium term

Create hubs at agricultural centres across Nigeria, each with storage, multi-grain trading, contract processing and structured offtake relationships. Possible dedicated processing lines such as rice milling, once supply and demand are proven.

03

Long term

A network of agricultural hubs across Nigeria and West Africa that supports farmers, aggregates significant crop volumes, improves quality, supplies processors and institutional buyers, and captures more value through storage, processing, packaging and branded agricultural products.

Where we are

Right now Agricliq Trading operates in Nigeria, from Plateau State, where the aggregation and processing centre is being set up. We plan to be across the country, with hubs at agricultural centres in Nigeria, and then to expand across West Africa and the rest of Africa. If you grow, buy or process grain anywhere we can reach, talk to us.
